AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) is the premier medical college in India. It comes in the list of top 5 medical colleges in India. Indian Armed Forces are the main authority that manages this college. AFMC provides admission to 130 MBBS seats including ten seats for SC/ST candidates (105 seats for boys and 25 seats for girls).
Students seeking admission in AFMC are required to apply for NEET. After the last date of registration, list of candidates who have applied for AFMC, Pune will be provided by DGHS. The NEET Roll No. of the candidates who are shortlisted for the screening at AFMC, Pune based on merit will be displayed on the website.
The shortlisted candidates will be called for Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic, and Reasoning (ToELR), Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination to be held in the month of June / July at AFMC, Pune.
A final merit list will be prepared on the basis of written ToELR + NEET + Interview scores. The students from merit lists are called for strict medical examination(checkups). After medical examinations, if you are declared as fit, you are selected!
Salary, Job Promotion and Career in AFMC Medical College
Armed Forces Medical officers can be employed as per service requirement in any part of the country, in Army, Navy or Air Force. AFMC doctors are paid salaries as per the 7th Pay Commission. Starting gross salary is around 85000/- which after deductions gives you around 72000/- approximately in hand. After completing MBBS, they join as interns in any of the command or military hospitals, in the rank of Lieutenant in the army or equivalent rank in the other branches. After their internship of one year, they are promoted as Captain. After four years they are promoted as Major.
